Voici un texte publié par le Mouvement révolutionnaire internationaliste sur une manifestation du 1er mai à Berlin, plusieurs similarités avec celle de Montréal toute proportion gardée.
A World To Win: Revolutionary 1 May in Berlin
Posted by Mike E on May 6, 2008
May 5, 2008. A World to Win News Service. Many sharply contested battles occurred around the world on May Day this year. In Hamburg and Nuremberg, Germany, there were counter-demonstrati ons against neo-Nazi National Democratic Party rallies, which ended in cars being set ablaze and stones and bottles hurled as the police attacked with water canons and pepper spray. Some 7,000 and 1,000 people took part, respectively. Several anti-Nazi demonstrators were arrested. We received the following report from Berlin .
Several hundred people (starting with around 800 people and ending with about 400) marched through a working class and immigrant neighbourhood of Berlin to celebrate a “revolutionary 1 May”.
This revolutionary march through Kreuzberg has been held since 1997. Other actions occurred the night before and later that day.
The demonstration was preceded by a rally where representatives of communist and revolutionary organisations and parties gave their views on the world situation. They addressed the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan and the dangerous military threats against Iran . The coalition emcee started by talking about the revolutionary history of May Day and the work done in organising this year’s activities. The preparations leading up to the march were seen as a political campaign to promote revolutionary consciousness among secondary school and university students and the lower strata of society living in the immigrant and working class neighbourhoods. Around 30,000 leaflets of the call for the 1 May demonstration were distributed among these sections of the people.
The leaflet emphasised the need to bring into being a new world that is radically different from the existing one controlled by the oppressors and exploiters of the people of the world. With the slogan “We want a new world”, the leaflet called for:
* A world in which a small number of rich countries no longer dominate and exploit the vast majority of nations and peoples of the world.
* A world in which all women and men are equal, where patriarchy in all its forms is totally abolished and no woman is threatened by rape, violence or ill-treatment by men.
* A world that no longer alienates the youth but sees them as the driving force of society, and a world in which the next generation will not inherit a destroyed environment.
A representative from the RK (Revolutionary Communists of Germany) spoke about the question of reform or revolution and how today’s trade unions dissipate the revolutionary impulses among the working class. The speaker also referred to the Iran nuclear issue and threatened American imperialist aggression against Iran , and condemned the U.S. occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan . The speech ended by emphasizing the prospect of building a new world.
Supporters of the Communist (Maoist) Party of Afghanistan, the Communist Party of Turkey (Marxist-Leninist) Maoist Party Centre and the Maoist Communist Party [Turkey and North Kurdistan] (MKP) also gave messages. They hailed the Revolutionary Internationalist Movement.
The multinational participants chanted slogans for the overthrow of the worldwide imperialist system through revolution. They declared their international solidarity with the people of Palestine , and condemned in particular the U.S. , UK , Germany and France for their imperialist collaboration and aggression. They also clearly stated that there is “No Liberation without Revolution”.
As on many other occasions in the previous years, the police took provocative measures and towards the end of the march prevented the demonstrators from reaching their final destination. The march organizers exposed and condemned this as a police provocation and sang the Internationale before dispersing.
